Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) I would dare to call this a perfect singer-songwriter album, because it actually meets all requirements. First of all - a great voice. That's quite essential, since many female so-called singer-songwriters nowadays sing like a five years old girl, which turns me off immediately. Then there's the sophisticated songwriting - alas, a quite neglected art in contemporary music. Finally, we've got excellent arrgements here, making clever use of synthesizers, and always finding the right balance between transparence and complexity. Shannon Curtis - a name to be remembered by all means. Favorite track: Yellow Line.

Dan Bullock It's the only track that I've had a chance to listen to so far but I plan on checking out the entire album in the next few days. Favorite track: I Know I Know.

come sit right here, tell me everything start from the beginning let it all pour out I will catch your story in my wings this is the beginning of all that we cry out for you, seeing me, seeing you, we are found I know I know I know I know you live all alone in a cold and dark room I know I know I know I know you don't see a way out, you're stuck there for good I know I know I know I know I know how it feels, I've lived there too shadows only catch us from behind let's turn and face them switch on the light never mind the cracks you try and hide I wanna see them they're what make you shine the glow from within scatters light through the night I know I know I know I know you go through the motions, and still you can't move I know I know I know I know you can see a window, but you can't break through I know I know I know I know I know how it feels, I've been there too yeah, me too and it means that you're not alone and the secrets have all been told and I see you, you're beautiful I know how it feels I've been there too

what happens when you speak your dreams aloud does regret set in as they ascend to the clouds what if they don't come true are you made a fool? what happens if your words dissipate to mist once you secret wish, does it cease to exist what will you then hold tight to get through the night? what happens when you keep your hope locked away does it suffocate while you're keeping it safe will you get to ninety-nine and never let it fly?

Yellow Line 03:59
your hand on my knee radio off and the whole world in front of us a welling up within my chest it's warm like joy it burns like dread how can a thing so pure render me defenseless? it's just the yellow line and the glowing lights somewhere on the horizon you and I will crest a hill into a dark unknown I won't give it power over this perfect moment driving in silence the road beneath our breath between the only sound the sweetest peace a flash of fear lights up the edge where blissful comfort becomes complacence I raise my eyes to the stars and praise them for precious seconds it's just the yellow line and the glowing lights somewhere on the horizon you and I will crest a hill into a dark unknown I won't give it power over this perfect moment driving in silence drive on, drive on, drive on drive on, drive on, drive on it's just the yellow line and the glowing lights somewhere on the horizon you and I are driving in silence

4am 03:39
will we meet again tonight at 4am? when I'm pulled the deepest in shallow breath, air thin chipped tooth, gold ring if I had known what a delicate thing would it have been any different? face to face on a stage before god and everyone they all get up and leave 'cause this isn't a very good show I tell you I'm happy, the best I've ever known but I wanna know if you are too I wanna know that you are, too there won't be a long goodbye I cry an unindulgent cry gold ring, chipped teeth quick breath, the air is thin will we meet again at 4am grabbing the tail of something whizzing by and then the light turns off the night and you're gone again, but wait just tell me you're okay with that smile I know like film exposed on my brain burned in forever, burned in forever will we meet again tonight at 4am?

late last night I rose and wandered stepped outside looked up in wonder points of light moving through the sky and here am I small and tired from toil and worry taken aback by expanse and beauty points of light traveled through the years someone's sun moving me to tears as I stand here emptied out and filled with blessing slumber came and soon I dreamt of home
6.
let me say one thing before I lose the nerve to say it it's harder than it seems three little words but still I'm shaking the distance seems so far to reach, but still and I know that it might hurt but I think the chance is worth it so let me be the first to say I love you because if love is not returned I still don't think that's worse than never having learned to say I love you there's no guarantee that what I offer won't be broken it's slowly killing me maintaining walls against erosion and though they seem too wide to breach, I will and I know that it might hurt but I think the chance is worth it so let me be the first to say I love you because if love is not returned I still don't think that's worse than never having courage to say I love you
7.
It's You 03:08
what overcame me, I still don't know but I had to kiss you all that was black and white in that moment came into full bloom from then there was no going back deep down, like from a distant past, I knew it's you of course I recognized you right away the light within your eyes gave you away a beacon to a wandering soul my heart has found its way back home it's you when, under magic lights we promised we would grow old together it came as no surprise because our story's old as forever another once upon a time to love and hurt and grow and find anew it's you of course I recognized you right away the light within your eyes gave you away a beacon to a wandering soul my heart has found its way back home it's you from here there is no going back deep down, like from a distant past another once upon a time to love and hurt and grow and find anew it's you
8.
Life Support 03:45
make it all stop let the needle drop and carry me carry me on your waves remove my fear fill up the space until I'm drowned in sound that takes the static somewhere far, far away you are my life support the rhythm that keeps me breathing I might have died before but you're the reason my heart's still beating you can reach my mind the solitary line that tethers me a tether to something sane it's like you can see exactly what I need: salvation it's salvation when you say what I'm unable to say you are my life support the rhythm that keeps me breathing I might have died before but you're the reason my heart's still beating say what I'm unable to say carry me out over your waves sing to me till my soul's awake you are my life support the rhythm that keeps me breathing I might have died before but you're the reason my heart's still beating
9.
hello, are you still there? can you hear me? if you can, say something over the air, I am here and if you let me I will listen to fears you can't speak you're sinking, you're sinking and I'm reaching, I'm reaching and I can't make you reach back I can't make you reach back but you're fading, you're fading and I'm waiting, still waiting for you to reach back reach out for my hand I will lift you up into arms of love the more you try and fight the more the tide will suck you under lay still, look toward the sky and you will rise and float the waves lose their power when you give up control you're sinking, you're sinking and I'm reaching, I'm reaching and I can't make you reach back I can't make you reach back but you're fading, you're fading and I'm waiting, still waiting for you to reach back reach out for my hand I will lift you up into arms of love when you're ready to, I'll be here for you in the darkest hour, with your last breath call out I will lift you up into arms of love hello, can you hear me? say something
10.
alone, staring at the door forces pull behind you it's hard to step out anymore no matter how you try to but oh, we need you to shine the light that only you can shine it's a dark night and some lost soul's stargazing for a sign and with your light you complete our constellation fear says that giving up is easier than feeling please here this: you are enough hold it close, believe it because oh, we need you to shine the light that only you can shine it's a dark night and some lost soul's stargazing for a sign and with your light you complete our constellation you, we need you to shine the light that only you can shine it's a dark night and some lost soul is looking for a sign we need your light to complete our constellation

about

This is what some people might call my "breakthrough" album? This is a very relative term; I remain a very DIY independent artist. But! This album had a moment.

Specifically, it had a video go massively viral — for the song "I Know I Know." At one point shortly after its release, the video was getting 10,000 views *an hour*. I was on my couch for WEEKS responding to people's messages as a result of this video. It exposed me to a much wider audience; our house concert touring grew fairly significantly as a result of this inflection point.

A wonderful side benefit of "I Know I Know" being the song to go viral is that it's about mental wellness and sharing our stories — which had the twin results of drawing Jamie and me much closer to the mental wellness community and bringing many more of other people's stories into our lives. It was, and remains, a wonderful connection to have made.
